Stockholm 100 Metro Challenge — Officially an FKT
100 stations. 162 kilometres. One city. A shared achievement.
What started as an idea to connect every Stockholm metro station on foot has now become an officially published Fastest Known Time (FKT).
On 29–30 May 2026, DUAROK founder Jonathan Lowe completed the Stockholm 100 Metro Challenge, visiting all 100 stations across Stockholm's underground network in 22 hours, 12 minutes and 40 seconds, covering 162.12 kilometres.
The achievement has now been published on the Fastest Known Time website, establishing a benchmark for future runners wanting to take on the challenge.
But while the official record carries one name, this was never a one-person achievement.
More Than One Runner
From the beginning, Stockholm 100 Metro was designed to bring people together through movement.
Nine runners joined Jonathan for different sections of the route, some running for a couple of hours, others for longer distances. Friends appeared unexpectedly in the middle of the night, supporters delivered much needed drinks and supplies, and family members turned out to offer encouragement along the way.
There were plenty of challenges. Navigation problems, wrong turns, running out of water and the inevitable fatigue of spending almost an entire day on foot.
But there was always someone helping to keep things moving.
Every runner who joined, every person who offered support and everyone who followed the journey helped make the challenge what it became.
The FKT may have one name attached to it, but the achievement belongs to everyone who was part of the journey.
A Challenge for Everyone
The Stockholm 100 Metro Challenge was never intended to be exclusively for ultrarunners.
The route was created to encourage people to explore Stockholm differently, connecting neighbourhoods and communities through movement.
You could run the entire route, complete one metro line, visit ten stations or simply walk between two stations you've never explored before.
That's the thinking behind DUAROK Challenges.
We believe movement should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability, experience or ambition. It's not about how far or how fast someone else can go. It's about discovering what you're capable of.
The Journey Continues
With the first FKT now officially published, the Stockholm 100 Metro Challenge is open for others to attempt.
Can the 22-hour benchmark be beaten? Almost certainly. Better navigation and fewer wrong turns would be a good starting point! We've actually worked with the FKT publishers to produce a shorter GPX file which is only 153.1km long - nearly 9km less than what Jonathan ran.
But we'd also love to see people taking on their own versions of the challenge, whether that's five stations, one line or all 100.
A huge thank you to everyone who ran, supported, filmed, encouraged and helped make this project possible.
100 stations. One city. Countless ways to take part.

DUAROK
Congratulations on completing the challenge. I enjoyed joining you for the final stretch. It showed me that I can run a fair distance in the temperature that seems to come as standard with the Stockholm marathon nowadays. I’m signed up for it next year.
